I have had a longtime interest in the concept and possible creative uses of fractals which are defined as "a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as eroded coastlines or snowflakes) in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation."

In this series of compositions that I titled Fractals, I created fractals by reflecting in the larger form the composition material I used in the details. For instance, if I had a melody C-A-G, I would use this as a form for transpositions and thus also lengthen the melody: C-A-G : A-F#-E : G-E-D. This is, of course, a small example, but hopefully you get the idea (and enjoy the music).
