Beyond Zoom A work in progress Previous Day Next Day
Scripture: Hebrews 4:3: For we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “As in my anger I swore, ‘They shall not enter my rest,’” though his works were finished at the foundation of the world. Abridged: The voice of God can only resonate in a heart that contains a sufficient opening to its divine nature. It is like the waves of the ocean seeking to access water in a jar. Meditation: The voice of God can only resonate in a heart that contains a sufficient opening to its divine nature. It is like ocean waves seeking to access water in a jar. The waves are mighty and part of a vastness that the water in the jar cannot even begin to comprehend. Suppose the jar is sealed tightly and placed in the ocean. In that case, it will float, occasionally be submerged, and generally be tossed and transported hither and yon without rhyme or reason. In contrast, the water in the jar splashes endlessly and remains in a state of constant turmoil. When a hole is made in the jar's lid, water inside the jar begins to seep into the ocean's vastness, becoming one with the massive tide of change and motion. Slowly, as water exits the jar and water outside the jar seeps in, it mixes with the water of the waves, and the nature of the water in the jar changes and becomes one with the ocean's water. After a time, the water's tossing and turmoil in the jar begin to cease. When the lid of the jar is entirely opened, we can no longer distinguish between the water in the jar and the water of the ocean, and the jar itself will gently come to rest in the lap of the vast ocean while moving peacefully to an unknown destination, always at peace; the internal and external nature of the heart flowing as one. Prayer: The life of a Christian, which is focused on loving, forgiving, and seeking to reflect the peace of Christ, receives God’s grace. As we leave the imponderable things to be revealed by God in time, we gain a simplicity of heart with a calm mind and a faithful soul. Amen Enter password: .
